Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- “GSMA Mobile 360 - Eurasia” is an annual event bringing together leaders of the public and private sectors from around the world to discuss the latest innovations and technologies and their impact on the continuous growth of the global Digital Economy, ICT and mobile telecommunications.

Within the framework of the GSMA Mobile 360 - Eurasia event, which was held on 8–9 October in the Russian Federation, a round table was organized for representatives of governments and mobile operators of the CIS countries on the topic of registering mobile devices using IMEI codes.

This year, Bobur Tillabaev, Acting Director of the State Unitary Enterprise Republican Telecommunication Networks Management Center of Uzbekistan, and specialists from the UZIMEI project were invited from Uzbekistan to participate in this event.

During the round table, participants had the opportunity to share the main problems associated with the impact of theft, fraud and counterfeit devices on the activities of government organizations, mobile operators, device manufacturers and users. At the event, representatives of the GSMA international association and other industry experts shared their positions and international best practices regarding blacklists, blocking IMEI codes and the role of national registries.

UZIMEI project was introduced at the initiative of the Ministry of Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the aim of solving a number of problems related to the import of counterfeit devices, reducing theft and illegal use of telephones, and also aimed at providing consumers with the opportunity to check the status of mobile IMEI codes devices, which will ensure the acquisition of a high-quality mobile device, and subsequently after-sales service. That is, the UZIMEI project also implies the official entry into the market of the republic of international brands such as: iPhone, Huawei, Xiaomi and others.
