Uzbekistan takes measures to prevent the spread of Marburg hemorrhagic fever

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan is taking measures to prevent the spread of Marburg hemorrhagic fever, as reported by the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health.

The Committee emphasized that on 29 September, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported registered cases of Marburg fever in Rwanda. As of 28 September, 26 cases of the disease had been confirmed in seven districts of the country, six of which resulted in fatalities.

The WHO assessed the risk of an epidemic as very high at the national level in Rwanda, high at the regional level, and low at the global level.

In Uzbekistan, as in other countries, precautionary measures have been intensified at sanitary control points along the borders, the committee noted.

The main focus is on detecting and isolating patients suspected of having Marburg fever.

Medical workers who come into contact with such patients are required to adhere to strict precautionary measures, using personal protective equipment.

Efforts to inform the public about the symptoms and prevention of the disease have also been intensified, and medical specialists are undergoing additional training in the diagnosis and treatment of hemorrhagic fever.

The Committee assured that there is no cause for serious concern among citizens, but urged everyone to observe precautionary measures.
