Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the 21st meeting of the Committee to Review the Implementation of the UN Convention on Desertification (CRIC-21), a meeting was held between the First Deputy Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change Obidjon Kudratov and the Deputy Chairman of the Environmental Protection Committee Wednesday under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Abdukodir Mavlodod.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a number of successful projects implemented jointly with specialists from the Ministry and the Committee, in particular, cross-border cooperation on the Uzbek-Tajik border, joint trainings and seminars.

The importance of regional and transboundary development in the field of ecology, environmental protection and climate change between the countries of Central Asia was also noted, taking into account the fact that nature knows no borders.

In turn, O. Kudratov said that Uzbekistan is ready to actively increase practical cooperation between departments, taking into account environmental risks in the region to preserve the unified ecosystem of Central Asia. At the same time, the parties discussed joint plans and actions within the framework of the upcoming 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, which will be held in Dubai from 30 November to 12 December.

In addition, Tajikistan was invited to participate in the fourteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (COP14), which will be held in Samarkand on 12-17 February 2024.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached on the further development of cooperation at regional platforms within the framework of the Memorandum signed between the departments.
