Uzbekistan, Syria hold economic forum in Aleppo city
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — An Uzbek–Syrian Economic Forum was held in the city of Aleppo (Aleppo), one of the largest economic and industrial centers of Syria, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan reported.
The forum brought together about 200 representatives of the business communities of both countries. The event was organized with the assistance of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Kuwait, Ayyubkhan Yunusov.
Aleppo, historically an important commercial and craft center, is currently playing a significant role in Syria’s economic recovery. In this context, the forum served as a platform to discuss prospects for expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation between the two countries.
During the event, representatives of business and industry sectors addressed participants, including Davron Vahabov and the President of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, Ala Omar al-Ali. They noted significant potential for the development of bilateral economic ties.
The forum continued the visit of a Syrian business delegation to Uzbekistan, which took place in February this year. Following that visit, preliminary agreements had been reached, which during the Aleppo meeting moved into practical implementation.
The discussions focused on prospects for cooperation in the textile, leather and footwear, food, construction, pharmaceutical, and electrical engineering industries, as well as agriculture.
Within the framework of the event, B2B meetings were held between entrepreneurs of the two countries, resulting in the signing of a number of memorandums of cooperation. The parties discussed expanding exports, establishing joint ventures, and increasing mutual trade turnover.
Participants noted that the forum would contribute to the further strengthening of trade and economic relations between Uzbekistan and Syria.
