The project “Development of professional skills in water management in Uzbekistan” is fully meets resolution of the President of Uzbekistan on further improving education quality in Uzbekistan.

The project is aimed at creating new model of cooperation between professional colleges and enterprises on management of water resources in training and re-training at the international standards.

Representatives of small and private business, repairing and serving water supply objects, will participate at the project. This will help to solve issues n employment of college graduates and provide small and private businesses with skilled employees.

The project is designed for three years and it will cover nine colleges in Ferghana, Namangan and Andijan regions. They will become regional centers for training specialists for management of water establishments, water supply and sewerage systems. These colleges will also organize trainings for existing specialists.

The project is part of the agreement on technical and financial cooperation and humanitarian assistance, signed between Uzbekistan and Switzerland in 2002. The Swiss side contributes US$3.4 million to the project.
