Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan passed the law on 12 July and Senate approved it on 30 August 2012. The law came into force on 12 September 2012.

The document is directed at avoiding ungrounded interference of state bodies to activities of business entities, creating legal mechanisms of protection rights and interest of the businesses.

The law amends Code of Administrative Responsibility with norm, which explains term illegal interference to activity of business entities.

The norm says that illegal interference to activities of businesses are initiating and holding inspection, suspension of activities of businesses and operations with their banking accounts, request information on money in their accounts, etc.

According to amendments, individual will be fined at the size of from two to five sizes of minimal sizes of salary, while officials – from 15 to 50 minimal size of salary.

The document also amends Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, which envisages responsibility for interference to the activities of businesses, committed after use of administrative punishment.

The amendments said that illegal interference to activities of businesses will be punished with fine for the sum, equal from 50 to 300 minimal size of salary or abolishment of right to three years or correctional works for three years.

Persons or group of persons, who interfered to activities of businesses and resulted in large losses, will be fined for the sum equal from 300 to 500 minimal sizes of salaries or jailed for three years with abolishment of some rights.

Similar actions, which resulted in huge damages or committed in interest of some officials, will be fined for the sum equal from 500 to 600 minimal size of salary or violators will be jailed from three to five years.
