Uzbekistan strengthens responsibility for illegal migration
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a law "On introduction of changes and amendments to some legislative acts of Uzbekistan" on 29 December 2012, which strengthens responsibility for illegal migration.

The law was passed by Legislative Chamber on 9 November 2012 and approved by Senate on 5 December 2012. It came into force on 4 January 2013.

The document expanded list of persons, who will be punished for illegal travel to abroad or entry into Uzbekistan, or cross border with violation of set norms, Norma.uz reported.

In line with article 223 of Criminal Code, officials, who travelled abroad without special permission, will be punished. Foreign citizens, who cannot enter Uzbekistan in line with the order of entry to Uzbekistan and travel from Uzbekistan of foreign citizens and persons without citizenship, will be punished as well.

Dangerous criminals and persons, who committed crime of illegal migration again, can be jailed for 5 to 10 years.
