Uzbekistan strengthens efforts to fight TB
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to reconstruct and re-equip with modern equipment all tuberculosis clinics by 2015.

In next five years, all anti-TB stationary stations in Uzbekistan will be reconstructed and re-equipped. It is planned to purchase 466 units of diagnosis and treatment equipment. The works on improving skills of medical staff is underway.

It is planned that budget is increasing allocation of funds to these goals, the sum of which will reach US$50 million by 2015. It is planned to introduce new epidemic supervision system - e-TB manager -across country in 2012, which will allow to improve quality and accuracy of information.

The Government is attracting significant international investments to fight TB. It is planned to attract US$31 million to purchase anti-TB medicaments and diagnosis materials due to funds of Global Fund against AIDS, TB and malaria. The country will also get 2.5 million euros from Germany.

World Health Organization, USAID, Doctors without Borders are also rendering technical and financial aid to Uzbekistan. In 2012, Uzbekistan will use special children doses of anti-TB medicaments.
