Uzbekistan sows grain-crops at 1.335 mln. hectares
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan sowed grain-crops at 1.335 million hectares, Pravda Vostoka newspaper reported quoting Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management of Uzbekistan.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management, 1.131 million hectares of them are irrigated lands.

According to the specialists, development of crops will be late for 1015 days due to dry and cold winter this year.

The paper said that farmers are doing to achieve rich crop this season. Currently, farmers are undertaking works to speed up growth of seeds. Large attention is paid to additional fertilizing grain-crops.

As earlier reported, grain-growers of Uzbekistan harvested 7 million tonnes of grain in 2010, of which 2.61 million tonnes of good grains and 272,100 tonnes of seed-grains were sold to the government.

From each hectare of irrigated area, grain-growers received 51 centners of grain. The yield made up 53-58 centners per hectare in Andijan, Bukhara, Kashkadarya, Samarkand and Tashkent regions.
