The delegation, which included ten persons of eastern medicine clinics of Sanji University and Asan Hospital, visited Uzbekistan on 6-9 December 2011 to develop cooperation with Uzbekistan and South Korea.

The visit of the modern and traditional Korean medicine is aimed at establishing cooperation with Uzbekistan, exchange experience and promotion opportunities of South Korea as medical and treatment tourism destination.

The visit was organized by South Korean tour operator Semyang tour and its partner in Uzbekistan – Great Silk Road Tourism.

Speaking about opportunities of Korean medicine, head of the center on support medical tourism of Gangwon province, Mr Young Wonmo (transliterated) said that the province has developed medical infrastructure and high-skilled medical personnel.

Young Wonmo said that the Center of Eastern Medicine under the Sanji University is the best equipped center in South Korea and it has Kangrang Asan Medical Center, Donnin Hospital, dental hospital under Kannin-Wondju, etc.

During the visit, the delegation familiarized with current state and perspectives of medicine in Uzbekistan and held seminars for medical specialists of Uzbekistan.

Within the visit, the Korean delegation inked memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Healthcare. The delegation also visited Samarkand and held talks with representatives of local medical establishments. They also familiarized with local sights.
