Uzbekistan 21/07/2009 Uzbekistan, South Africa make steps to develop cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Charge d’affaires and advisor of the South African Embassy in Turkey Sarel Gehard Van Zil [transliterated] visited Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Jahon news agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

South African diplomat held negotiations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and discussed issues of bilateral cooperation and signing of memorandum of understanding between foreign political departments of Uzbekistan and South Africa.

The report said that Uzbekistan and South Africa are considering drafts of bilateral agreements on trade-economic cooperation, prevention of double taxation, encouragement and protection of investments, as well as political consultations between Foreign Ministries of two states.

Sarel Gehard Van Zil said the main task of the mission in Tashkent was to determine opportunities for boosting the Uzbek-South African relations. He said the South African government is developing new directions of tyrade0investment cooperation with dynamically developing markets, including Uzbekistan.

He added that South Africa is considering Uzbekistan as the most perspective country in the region, which possesses significant potential for expansion of relations, attraction of direct investments and creation of new jobs.

South African diplomat said consultations between Foreign Ministries should serve as important factor for political dialogue. He added that mutual contacts and visits will help to familiarize with life and culture of each other, exchange experience, open new perspectives of cooperation.

He expressed his assurance that cooperation between Uzbekistan and South Africa will develop and there is wish and opportunities for that. He confirmed intend of the South African government to develop mutual beneficial relations with Uzbekistan in various spheres.
