Uzbekistan simplifies requirements for hostels
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan reviewed requirements for operation of hostels via introducing changes to the state standard O’z DSt 3220: 2017 "Tourist services. Means of accommodation. General requirements".

Uzbekistan pays great attention to development of the tourism in the country. It is important to create necessary infrastructure, including hostels.

A hostel is an enterprise offering accommodation, meals with a limited range of dishes or self-service equipment, as well as other additional services. In order to maintain competitiveness in the domestic market and attract more tourists, hostels are usually located in the center of major cities, close to major cultural attractions and historical sites, as well as within walking distance of railway stations, bus stations or in places where festivals, fairs are held regularly, exhibitions and other mass events.

A key factor in the attractiveness of hostels is the demand for foreign and domestic tourists, especially young people with low incomes.

In this regard, and to promote the development of low-budget tourism infrastructure and hostel business in the country, as well as the formation of a modern hostel network, changes into O’z DSt 3220have been introduced. The made changes allow entrepreneurs to significantly reduce costs when creating and organizing the activities of hostels.

Some requirements for hostels were cancelled. In particular, now hostels should not have separate entrance, elevator, public and office premises, tanks with water reserves, need for a certain area per visitor. The requirements for personnel were simplified.

Changes to the standard O’z DSt 3220 came into force from 10 July 2018.
