Uzbekistan signs agreements on 25 PPP projects worth US$285.8 million in 1Q

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- During the first quarter of 2024, agreements on 25 public-private partnership (PPP) projects worth a total of US$285.8 million were signed in Uzbekistan.

In particular, the Saudi company ACWA Power won a tender for a project to construct and manage a 200 MW wind power plant with a 100 MW electricity storage system in the Republic of Karakalpakstan worth US$262.65 million.

Agreements were also signed on 10 projects in the field of water management with a total value of US$0.55 million. Documents were also signed on 9 projects with a total value of US$20.46 million in the field of education and 5 projects with a total value of US$2.14 million in the field of culture.

In addition, on 29 February, an International Round Table on PPP was held, dedicated to the development goals of PPP in the Uzbekistan 2030 strategy. During the round table, 5 documents related to the industry were signed.

On 2 March, a loan agreement in the amount of 10 million euros was signed between the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on the creation of a Fund for the development of public-private partnership (PPP) projects in Uzbekistan and a cooperation agreement.
