"Yesterday we exported 1m kWh to Tajikistan, and today [electricity] supplies were increased to 2m kWh," a consul of the Uzbek embassy in Tajikistan, Mirodil Abdurazzoqov, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
He said that Uzbekistan had to suspend energy supplies to Tajikistan on 4 February due to sharp cold weather in the whole of the region.
"Today the situation in Uzbekistan is gradually normalizing, and we have an opportunity to help the neighbouring country," he said, expressing confidence that the amount of electricity supplies to Tajikistan would be gradually increased.
A source in the Tajik electricity supplier confirms information on the resumption of power supplies to the country.
