Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the first nine months of 2024, residents of Uzbekistan earned a total of 8.9 billion soums from selling surplus electricity generated by solar panels, according to the State Tax Committee of Uzbekistan.
Households that install solar panels receive a subsidy of 1,000 soums for each kilowatt-hour of energy fed back into the grid. From January to September, 6,000 households received this subsidy.
Among Uzbekistan’s regions, residents of Khorezm Province received the largest share of subsidies, totaling 2.1 billion soums. This was followed by Karakalpakstan and Tashkent, where residents received 1.5 billion and 1.2 billion soums, respectively.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced these subsidies for households installing solar panels in February 2024.
The payments are made through the Soliq app to the owner’s bank card by the 25th of the month following the reporting period.
