Uzbekistan represented in major tourism fair in Madrid
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- “Kelajak-Tour” Bureau for International Youth Tourism and Cooperation participated in FITUR 2011 International Tourism Fair held in Madrid, the capital of Spain, from 19 January to 23 January. A colorful stand representing Uzbekistan adorned with a classical oriental dome piqued the interest of thousands of visitors.

The fair was opened by Queen Sofia of Spain with ministers and representatives of tourism companies and related organization in attendance.

Kelajak-Tour`s stand, which formed part of the Asian pavilion and designed in national style with the use of Uzbek applied art items, offered colorful print products with information on the Fund Forum`s projects that are of interest to travelers. One such project is Asrlar Sadosi (Echo of Ages) Festival of Traditional Culture. The stand also provided information about the Foundation`s activities as a whole. Tourism specialists, journalists and visitors could be seen enthusiastically leafing through colorful catalogs and brochures published by the Fund Forum.

The International Tourism Exhibition FITUR-2011 (Feria Internacional de Turismo) is a major tourism exhibition not only in Spain but also in Europe. As many as 10,966 tour companies from 166 countries and 124,644 tourism professionals from across the world participated in the fair to present their products and services. FITUR 2011 featured stands representing major tour operators, hotels, tourist agencies, advertising companies and tourism marketing firms. The events held as part of the fair at IFEMA complex were covered by over 7,000 journalists from all over the world. The first three days of the fair were open to professionals while the remaining two days invited the broad public.

“Kelajak-Tour” Bureau for International Youth Tourism and Cooperation was created in February 2008 with support from the Fund Forum and Kelajak ovozi (Voice of the future) Youth Initiative Center in an effort to boost mutual exchange and cooperation among the youth and to use young people`s potential to develop historical, ecological, sporting and international youth tourism both locally and internationally. The bureau also works to draw public attention to this field and raise the country`s international profile.

Kelajak-Tour offers both traditional tourism routes in Uzbekistan and special tours tied to major cultural events in the country. These include Style-tour available during Style.Uz Art Week each October, Asrlar-tour during Aslar Sadosi (Echo of Ages) Festival of Traditional Culture as well as extreme tours and other customized programs based on individual preferences.
