Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In March 2024, Uzbekistan became the main supplier of gold in the world, according to the World Gold Council.

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan sold 11 tons of precious metal, the organization’s report says.

Major gold sellers also include Thailand (10 tons) and Jordan (4 tons).

In March, the main buyers of gold were Turkey (14 tons), China (5 tons) and India (5 tons).

In February, Uzbekistan was also recognized as the main seller of gold in the world.

According to the Statistics Agency, in January-March 2024, Uzbekistan exported gold worth more than US$2.66 billion, which is 15.3% more than the first quarter of 2023.
