Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan took 47th place in the World Happiness Report 2024, calculated by the international organization GALLUP among 143 countries of the world.

Among the countries of Central Asia, Uzbekistan took first place. This is followed by Kazakhstan (49th place), Kyrgyzstan (75th place) and Tajikistan (88th place). Turkmenistan is not included in the ranking.

Uzbekistan entered the TOP 20 countries (19th place) in terms of changes in the level of happiness in 2021-2023 relative to 2006-2010.

In terms of the level of happiness of the country’s citizens over 60 years of age, Uzbekistan took 22nd place, ahead of countries such as the Czech Republic, France, Singapore, Japan and others.

The World Happiness Index is calculated based on population surveys over the past 3 years. Respondents are asked about a hypothetically better (10 points) and worse (0 points) life opportunity, and are also asked to rate their current standard of living on this scale. In addition, additional data is collected by country on GDP, life expectancy, generosity, social support, freedom and corruption. These additional parameters are not used to calculate the index itself, but are more explanatory in nature.
