Uzbekistan Railways to invest US$120.1m to wagon construction
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- State joint stock railway company Uzbekistan Temir Yollari is implementing a project on developing foundation for repairing and construction wagons, Temiryo'lchi (Railwayman) newspaper reported on 3 August 2012.

The project cost is US$120.1 million and it is implemented by Foundry- Mechanical Plant of Uztemiryolmashtamir.

The project implementation will allow the plant to produce 1,200 cargo wagons and repair 1,500 freight wagons as year. The plant will also produce 950 units of containers.

Foundry- Mechanical Plant will also produce 26,479.1 tonnes of foundry products and 600 tonnes of metallic constructions a year. At the same time, it will export 25% of goods.

The project will be financed due to own resources of Uzbekistan Temir Yollari at the size of US$71.38 million and loan of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development – US$48.8 million. Within the project, Uzbekistan Temir Yollari inked agreement on supplying of equipment and rendering services for US$54.3 million with AS Skinest Rail (Estonia).
