Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan Railways (Uzbekiston Temir Yollari) has announced an upcoming increase in ticket prices for high-speed trains on domestic routes, effective from 1 February.
Ticket prices for the high-speed Afrosiyob train will rise by 20% for economy class passengers and by 25% for business and VIP class tickets.
For the high-speed trains "Shark," "Nasaf," and "Uzbekistan," ticket prices will increase by 30%.
After the new tariffs are introduced, the cost of tickets for the Tashkent-Samarkand route will be 294,000 soums for economy class, 450,000 soums for business class, and 619,000 soums for VIP category tickets.
Passengers traveling from Tashkent to Karshi will need to pay 406,000 soums for economy class, 634,000 soums for business class, and 854,000 soums for VIP class.
A ticket for the Afrosiyob train on the Tashkent-Bukhara route will cost 484,000 soums for economy class, 751,000 soums for business class, and 994,000 soums for VIP class.
The company explained that the need for a price increase is related to plans for the modernization of the railway infrastructure.
Additional funds will be allocated to cover expenses related to electricity and fuel consumption, logistics, and transportation services.
The price increase is also driven by the need to renew the passenger car fleet, purchase new electric trains, maintain railway stations in good condition, and improve the quality of passenger services.
