Uzbekistan plans to produce shrimp, crabs, lobsters and shellfish products

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The nature of Uzbekistan is known for its uniqueness. Among the desert lands there are areas with water. We protect every centimeter of such land and take measures for its efficient use.

Water is a necessary condition for the development of the agricultural sector. But what about the lands in the desert? Can we use them in the agricultural sector? Today, the answers to these questions are in the affirmative.

Let’s give an example: Mirishkor district of Kashkadarya region is a desert area. In the middle of this desert there are two large natural reservoirs (lakes): Sechankul in Sandykli desert (area 5014 ha) and Achinkul in the Avaz desert (area 1800 ha).

The lakes were created naturally in 1987-1988. They are inhabited by such species of fish as carp, grass carp, bream. In addition, fish can be bred in these lakes.

Today, industrial production is a requirement of the time - about 1000 tons of fish are caught from the lakes per year.

During his visit to Kashkadarya, the head of state made a clear proposal to implement an initiative to grow 5,000 tons of fish a year in these lakes. In turn, the Minister of Agriculture Aziz Voitov talked to businessmen and investors on the spot on the implementation of this initiative.

It should be noted that in recent years all conditions for entrepreneurship have been created in our country. It is also indicative that the initiatives of the head of state are aimed at improving the welfare of the population. They were given special attention during the President’s visit to Kashkadarya.

Therefore, at the meetings of the Minister of Agriculture in the districts of Kashkadarya region, the unused opportunities of the region were studied and specific proposals were made to develop a mechanism for the implementation of new projects on these lands.

Thus, Aziz Voitov at a meeting with the fishermen of the region discussed the introduction of intensive fish farming and fish breeding in the Sechankul and Achinkul lakes. He proposed to increase the number of fish by continuously rearing fry for two years. At the same time, the annual catch will increase to 3,000 tons, which will allow the production of 2,000 tons of fish fillets and 1,500 tons of fishmeal to begin.

In addition, based on the substances contained in the water and the level of salinity, it was proposed to grow seafood belonging to the crustacean family. Until now, shrimp, crabs, lobsters and shellfish products have been imported into our country. With the right development of opportunities and potential, it will be possible to grow such seafood here. The main thing is to focus on solving such a problem not in words, but in deeds.
