Uzbekistan plans to introduce German experience in managing zoos

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the invitation of the Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change Aziz Abdukhakimov, a well-known German expert with 30 years of experience in managing a zoo, Udo Nagel, arrived in Uzbekistan.

From 1992 to 2022, Udo Naworked as the director of one of the best zoos in Europe - the Rostock Zoo. During his leadership, in 2018 Rostock was recognized as the best European zoo in its category (up to 1 million visitors). In addition, the zoo has repeatedly received the quality mark as "The Best Destination for a Family Vacation". Rostock is home to 4200 animals of 430 different species from all over the world.

On 20 September 2021, Udo Nagel received the title of honorary professor at the University of Rostock.

On 12 July, Udo Nagel met with representatives of the Ministry of Ecology, where a presentation of the activities of the international expert was presented, and the results of the visit to the Tashkent City Zoo were discussed.

As part of the visit, it is also planned to visit the Ferghana and Termez city parks to study the management system, service level, infrastructure and develop recommendations and proposals.

In accordance with the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the zoos of Tashkent, Ferghana and Termez were transferred to the management of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Also, during the visit, the activities of the Bukhara specialized nursery "Jeyran", the National Park "Zarafshan" and LLC "Deer Hills" in Tashkent region will be studied.

Udo Nagel’s visit to Uzbekistan will last until 21 July.
