Uzbekistan plans to ink cotton export agreements for US$500m
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is expecting to sign export agreements on cotton supplies for US$500 million within the Sixth International Uzbek Cotton Fair, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade.

The Sixth International Uzbek Cotton Fair will be held in Tashkent on 13-14 October 2010. The ministry said that about 300 companies and over 500 foreign partners from 34 countries confirmed their participation at the fair.

During two days, Uzbekistan will provide opportunity to leaders of cotton industry, textile enterprises and trade agents to familiarize with strategy of cotton industry development, participate in fair and exchange trades, as well as sign direct cotton-fiber supplies.

Participants will have opportunity to get acquainted with thousand examples of the Uzbek cotton-fiber, which will be placed at UzExpoCenter. They could also familiarize with cotton quality and sign contracts on selected party and discuss transportation routes.

The ministry’s press service said that buyers can purchase cotton at trade session at the Uzbek Commodity Exchange. Over 600,000 tonnes of cotton-fiber will put for sale at the fair. Uzbekistan expects to sign contracts on cotton-fiber exports for US$500 million.

Uzbekistan is one of the important participants of international cotton market. The country is the third cotton exporter in the world and sixth place on the volume of production.
