Uzbekistan plans to increase the number of charging stations to 2,500 by 2025

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to increase the number of electric charging stations to 2,500 by the end of 2024.

This is envisaged by the resolution of the President of Uzbekistan “On measures to expand the infrastructure for the operation of electric vehicles.”

The resolution notes that from 1 January 2024, all newly built shopping and business centers, places of entertainment and recreation, gas stations, hotels and infrastructure facilities along international and national highways must be equipped with charging stations.

The head of Uzbekistan instructed the Ministry of Construction to develop the necessary technical conditions for this.

The document notes that in 2023, 1,400 sites will be put up for auction for the installation of charging stations.

The Regional Electric Networks company was instructed to install 500 stations along the roads. In 2023-2024, free plots of territories of state bodies and organizations should be put up for auction through the K-savdo system to install at least 500 charging stations.

The President granted entrepreneurs the right to sell electricity through their charging stations from 1 January 2023. Entrepreneurs will independently set tariffs for their services.

From 1 January 2023 to 1 January 2026, land plots under charging stations and car parks where they are installed are exempt from paying land tax, and charging stations are exempt from property tax.

Entrepreneurs whose main activity is the provision of charging station services are exempt from income tax, and their profit from the provision of this service is exempt from value added tax.

The President also exempted imported charging stations, their components and technological devices for service infrastructure from customs duties.

The heads of the regions and the Ministry of Energy have been instructed to install at least 1 (4-channel) charging station with a capacity of 60 kW at petrol, diesel and gas filling stations by 1 December 2023.

The Uzbek leader instructed to create a Green Economy Development Fund.
