Uzbekistan plans to increase production of cars
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to increase production of automobiles by 1.2 times and buses and trucks by 1.3 times by 2015 compared to 2010. In line with targeted figures of industrial development of Uzbekistan for 2011-2015, Uzbekistan will increase automobiles output from 216,000 units in 2010 to 260,000 units in 2015.

In particular, Uzbekistan intends to increase car output to 225,000 units in 2011, 235,000 units in 2012, 245,000 units in 2013, 250,000 units in 2014 and 260,000 units in 2015.

Production of buses and trucks in Uzbekistan will grow from 2,500 units in 2010 to 3,200 units in 2015. Uzbekistan plans to produce 2,700 buses and trucks in 2011. The production volume will make up 2,900 units in 2012, 3,000 units in 2013, and 3,100 units in 2014.

GM Uzbekistan is only producer of automobiles in Uzbekistan. Asaka-based plant produces such models of cars as Nexia, Matiz, Damas, Lacetti, Captiva, Epica, and Spark. The plant’s capacity is 250,000 cars a year.

Samarkand Automobile Plant LLC (SamAuto) produces buses and trucks on medium class of Isuzu chassis (Japan). The enterprise started production of Isuzu automobiles in 2007 based on agreement on technical assistance between Isuzu Motors and SamAuto.

MAN Auto-Uzbekistan JV is also operating in Samarkand on production of trucks. The capacity of the plant is 500-1000 trucks a year.

Uzavtosanoat joint stock company and Germany’s Daimler AG founded Mercedes-Benz Central Asia. Subsidiary of Daimler - Mercedes-Benz Buses Central Asia GmbH – owns 51% in the venture, while Uzavtosanoat holds 49%. The charter capital of the venture is US$8 million.

The capacity of the joint venture is 600 buses a year, but it can be increased. The venture produces tourism buses, intercity buses, city buses and other under Mercedes-Benz brand. The buses meet Euro-3 emission requirements.
