Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – A draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers "On the Concept of Development of the Copper Industry Cluster aimed at creating multi-level value chains from raw materials to finished products" was published in Uzbekistan.

The document aims to approve the development concept of Uzbekistan’s copper industry cluster by 2030, along with a "Roadmap" for establishing a full-cycle technological chain for high value-added production from copper raw materials for the period of 2024-2030.

Additionally, specific targets and a target program for processing copper raw materials within high value-added production are set to be approved for the specified period.

The project includes the establishment of procedures for attracting investors to the territory of the copper industry cluster.

It is expected that by 2030, annual copper production will reach 400,000 tons, of which over 300,000 tons will be processed in industries.

Through attracting investments totaling US$1.5 billion for localizing the production of electrical and household appliances, the overall production volume will increase to US$8 billion.

Local and foreign investments will be attracted to the production of finished copper products and semi-finished goods within the cluster’s territory.

Implementing projects for copper processing within the copper industry cluster will increase the copper raw material processing rate to 80%.

Localization of new types of equipment and components necessary for the mining and metallurgical industry to replace imports is also planned.

The volume of exports of finished products and high value-added services will increase.

A system for training and enhancing the qualifications of highly skilled personnel in the mining and metallurgical industry will be established.

It is expected that the creation of new productions within the cluster’s territory will generate more than 10,000 new jobs.
