Uzbekistan plans to attract US$3.5bn to power industry
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to attract US$3.5 billion to realize 38 projects in power industry by 2014, gazeta.uz reported citing chairman of Uzbekenergo [Uzbek energy] Batir Teshabaev.

Uzbekenergo plans to realize 24 projects on power generation, which envisages introduction of capacities for 2,700 megawatt. In particular, it is planned to implement 8 projects in heat-and-power engineering with introduction of capacities of 2,255 megawatt and hydro-electric engineering - 15 projects with capacity of 440 megawatt.

It is planned to implement 12 projects in power networks with introduction of over 1,400 km of power lines and 1,754 megawatt transformers at power substations.
