Uzbekistan plans to attract US$350m of ADB loan for Talimardjan project
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan plans to attract loan of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to implement project on modernization of Talimardjan thermoelectric power station in Kashkadarya region.

Uzbekenergo state joint stock company plans to construct two gas combined-cycle facilities at Talimardjan thermoelectric power station for US$800 million.

It is planned to attract US$400 million loan of foreign bank, loan of Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan for US$250 million, as well ass own resources of Uzbekenergo for US$150 million.

Uzbekistan plans to attract US$350 million of ADB loan, of which US$340 million will be the resources of the Asian Development Fund. It is expected that the ADB Board will consider issue on allocation of loan in the third quarter of 2010.

Uzbekenergo commissioned first energy block of Talimardjan thermoelectric power station with the capacity of 800 megawatt in 2004. The cost of the project was US$400 million.

Uzbekistan became the ADB member in 1995. During cooperation years, ADB allotted US$1.17 billion to realization of 25 projects in Uzbekistan. The ADB is largest investor among international financial institutions.
