Uzbekistan parliamentary delegation visits Malaysia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 1-3 July, a parliamentary delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Nuriddin Ismailov, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, visited Malaysia.

The visit aimed to discuss further development of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries. The delegation held a series of high-level meetings and dialogues.

It is noteworthy that due to the political will of the leaders of Uzbekistan and Malaysia, relations between the countries are reaching new heights across various sectors. Mutually beneficial trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties are strengthening. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's visit to Uzbekistan in May of this year marked a new era in bilateral relations.

Inter-parliamentary dialogues are also advancing to a new qualitative level. Last year, Malaysia's House of Representatives Speaker, Johari Abdul, visited Uzbekistan, and this year, Nur Jazlan Mohamed, Acting President of the Malaysian Senate, reciprocated.

The friendship and cooperation groups between the parliaments of both countries are working effectively.

During the visit, the Uzbekistan delegation held negotiations with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malaysia, Johari Abdul, and Acting President of the Malaysian Senate, Nur Jazlan Mohamed. Discussions focused on the prospects for developing inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Members of the delegation also familiarized themselves with the activities of the Malaysian parliament chambers and the Library of the House of Representatives. They exchanged views on legislative processes in the Malaysian parliament.

Meetings also took place at the Ministry of Higher Education, Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia, and at the University of Malaya.

During the negotiations, the Uzbek side shared information about the reforms under the "Uzbekistan 2030" strategy and their outcomes.
