Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan, in its cooperation with BRICS countries, is guided by its economic interests. This was stated by the Press Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Akhror Burkhanov.

As of 1 January, Uzbekistan officially acquired the status of a partner country of BRICS.

"BRICS is an authoritative and dynamic association that fosters multilateral cooperation and partnerships. We are convinced that such a model of interaction can become a solid foundation for the formation of a new architecture of a more just world order, while maintaining the central role of the UN," emphasized Burkhanov.

He also noted that most BRICS countries are traditional partners of Uzbekistan.

"We are primarily guided by economic interests. BRICS is a huge market with vast opportunities, and the comprehensive expansion of cooperation with its participants will contribute to the long-term prosperity of our people," said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs representative.
