On 20 May, the qualification round for the tournament ended. The Group B results helped Uzbekistan to advance to finals. Jordan played a 3-3 draw with Kuwait. Jordan advanced to finals as Group leaders with seven points. Kuwait took the second place with four points.

Uzbekistan played in Group E and collected six points. Syria topped the group with nine points. Uzbekistan progressed to the finals of the tournament as one of five runner-ups with the best results.

It is worth to mention that the AFC U-23 Championship in Qatar will serve as qualification round to the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
