Share of food products in Uzbekistan’s imports fell from 8.7% in the first quarter of 2008 to 8.4% in the same period of 2009, chemical products from 11.7% to 9.9%, energy and oil products from 4.6% to 2.7%.
Ferrous and non-ferrous metals accounted 5.7% of Uzbekistan’s imports in the first quarter of 2009 compared to 8.6% in the same period of 2008. Services’ share in imports slipped to 3.5% in January-March 2009 against 4.5% in the first quarter of 2008.
Uzbekistan’s imports rose by 10.3% year-on-year to US$2.287 billion in the first quarter of 2009.
