Fozil Musaev, who was part of the Nasaf squad that won the 2011 AFC Cup, put the Uzbeks 1-0 up 23 minutes into Tuesday's clash at the Al Arabi Stadium in Doha before Mohammed Saad Abdullah levelled the tie from the penalty spot on the stroke of half-time.
Abdullah's spot-kick was the first goal Vadim Abramov's side had conceded in the third round of London 2012 qualifiers but with five minutes remaining the Uzbek defence was breached again with what transpired to be the winning goal for the Iraqis.
Mustafa Abdulammer netted the decisive goal when he fired a long-range shot over Sanjar Kuvvatov after the Uzbek keeper had come out to deal with a long ball, giving victory to an Iraqi that had seen their 2-0 win over the UAE declared a 3-0 triumph in favour for the Emiratis after Iraq had fielded an ineligible player.
