According to the National CDM Body, nine of 22 registered CDM projects in the region fell to share of Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan also leads on estimated annual volume of emission reduction. According to the body, about 74% of expected annual Certified Emission Reductions (CER) fell to share of Uzbekistan.
Currently, the UNFCCC registered the ninth CDM project of Uzbekistan with total planned emission reductions of about 2,686 million tonnes of CO2-equivallent a year.
UNFCCC will registered another project in Uzbekistan on 20 January 2011. The organization will review project “Reducing gas leaks in low pressure and medium pressure gas distribution networks in Ferghana Valley”, which is implemented in cooperation with MASDAR (UAE).
The project will help to reduce gas leakage in gas distribution networks in Ferghana Valley, which unites three regions – Andijan, Ferghana and Namangan.
The project will allow to cut 1.212 million tonnes of Certified Emission Reductions (CER) a year.
