Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications is carrying out comprehensive work within the framework of the measures reflected in the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No.UP-5953 dated 2 March 2020 "On the implementation of the State Program in the Year of Science, Education and Digital economy "in accordance with the Strategy of Action in five priority areas of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2017-2021.

In particular, in 2020, it is planned to create at least 800 thousand broadband Internet ports and lay 12 thousand kilometers of fiber-optic communication lines. As a result of the implementation of measures for the further development of telecommunications infrastructure from the beginning of this year until now, 490 thousand ports have been installed in order to expand broadband networks on the Internet. as a result, their total number has reached 2.5 million.

To date, 1,375 new base stations have been installed and commissioned throughout the country.

It should be noted that to date, the task of expanding 2G mobile networks, mainly providing telephone services, has been completed, but currently projects to expand the network coverage are aimed at expanding 3G / 4G networks. In particular, it is planned to install 2,200 3G / 4G base stations this year.

As part of the development of telecommunication network projects, 7.8 thousand kilometers of fiber-optic communication lines were laid to the planned facilities, and their total length exceeded 44.4 thousand km.
