Uzbek President Islam Karimov and Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al- Ahmad al-Jabir al-Sabah held talks in the afternoon. Later, the two official delegations held bilateral talks, too.
The talks were followed by the signing of bilateral agreements. In particular, the sides signed intergovernmental agreements on the creation of a joint committee for cooperation and on cooperation in the health sector and tourism.
The sides also signed memorandums of mutual understanding on cooperation in the oil and gas sector, on the environment and natural resources.
The Uzbek Ministry for Foreign Economic Links, Investment and Trade and the Kuwaiti Finance Ministry signed a protocol of mutual understanding. The Uzbek government and the Kuwait Fund for Arab and Economic Development (KFAED) also signed a memorandum of mutual understanding and cooperation.
