Uzbekistan keeps the 110th place in ICT Development Index
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan kept the 110th place in the ICT Development Index (IDI). ITU published its flagship annual Measuring the Information Society Report on 22 November 2016.

The IDI is a standard tool that governments, operators, development agencies, researchers and others can use to measure the digital divide and compare ICT performance within and across countries.

The ICT Development Index is based on 11 ICT indicators, grouped in three clusters: access, use and skills. The Index covers 175 economies of the world and compared data for 2013 and 2012.

The report said that Uzbekistan took the 110th place in IDI Index 2016 with the index of 4.05. Uzbekistan is on the ninth place among the CIS states.

In previous report, Uzbekistan was also in the 110th place, but its index was at 3.76.

Uzbekistan took the 112th place in access cluster with index of 4.53 (116th place with index 4.22 in 2015). Uzbekistan was among top ten countries, which improved their index on this sub-index.

The country was on 113th place with index 2.58 in use cluster (109th place with index 2.17) and 87th place in skills cluster with index 6.04 (87th place with index 6.04).

According to the report, number of fixed-telephone subscribers made up 8.44 per 100 inhabitants and to mobile telephone – 73.34 per 100 inhabitants. International internet bandwidth per user was 2,075.36 bit/s.

About 43.2% of households possess computers in Uzbekistan, while 52.6% of households have access to internet at home.

At the same time, about 42.8% of population of Uzbekistan use Internet, the report said. Number of fixed broadband internet users reached 3.57 per 100 inhabitants.

Number of active mobile internet users in Uzbekistan made up 28.69 per 100 inhabitants, the report underlined.

South Korea topped the Index. Iceland, Denmark, Switzerland, Great Britain and Hong Kong (China) followed the country. Sweden, the Netherland, Norway and Japan were also among Top-10.
