Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan Foreign Ministries hold consultations
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Foreign Affairs Ministries of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan held consultations at the level of deputy foreign affairs ministers in Tashkent on 5 November 2010.

The Uzbek side was represented by Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Bakhtiyor Islamov, while the Kazakh side was led by Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Qayrat Sarybay.

The sides considered wide-range of issues of cooperation in multilateral and bilateral format in the spirit of implementation of agreements, achieved during negotiations of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbaev and Uzbek President Islam Karimov this year.

The sides considered preparation to the OSCE Summit in Astana on 1-2 December 2010 and its agenda. The sides noted that Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have common view on such issues as regional security, combating terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking, which will be considered within the OSCE meeting.

The consultations have important meaning before the OSCE summit and it will help to develop agreed positions of Astana and Tashkent and strengthen consensus field within the organizations taking into account regional interests.

Considering bilateral relations, the sides positively rated growing trade-economic cooperation between two states, conducted work on demarcation of the Uzbek-Kazakh state border. At the same time, the diplomats underlined importance of gradual and effective implementation of the strategy on economic cooperation between two states for 2007-2016, which determines further fostering trade-economic contacts.

In the result of the talks, the sides expressed their assurance that developing brotherhood relations between people of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will serve for stability and dynamic development of the Central Asian region.
