Uzbekistan – Kazakhstan: Current issues and plans in the field of cargo transportation were discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan Temir Yollari visited the city of Astana and held negotiations with representatives of NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, where issues of fruitful cooperation were discussed and a number of other agreements were reached.

The negotiations were held under the leadership of the first deputy chairman of the board of Uzbekistan Temir Yollari JSC Kh. Rakhmetov and the managing director for production processes of NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC B. Urynbasarov.

First of all, the parties noted the well-coordinated joint work over the past 8 months, which resulted in an increase in the volume of cargo transportation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. In particular, there was a high growth and a positive trend in imports to Kazakhstan from Uzbekistan of chemical and mineral fertilizers, fruits and dried fruits, cars, their spare parts, etc. Also, over 8 months there has been a stable exchange of trains.

In addition, the issues of coordinating plans through the AS “Mesplan” system were considered, where the parties agreed to timely and in accordance with the established deadlines of the Center for Railway Transport to review and approve incoming main and additional plans through this system for the transit of goods through the Republic of Kazakhstan from/to the Republic of Uzbekistan and to transit from third countries through Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan, as well as for the transportation of goods from Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan.

The parties also agreed to consider increasing the number of trains through connecting interstate points to an additional 2 pairs of trains per day, while the parties will increase the reception/delivery of trains to 30 trains or more per day. Currently, the reception/transmission of freight trains at interstate connecting points is about 28 trains per day.

At the same time, during the negotiations, the parties agreed to use gondola cars and other types of cars of Uzbekistan Temir Yollari for loading and transporting coal, grain and other goods destined for the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Also, in order to increase trade turnover between the countries and form new supply chains for fresh fruits and vegetables, the parties agreed to make joint efforts to organize a through refrigerated train consisting of refrigerated sections, which will run from Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan, as well as use refrigerated sections for the export of fruits and vegetables from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan . In addition, the parties agreed to send refrigeration units from Uzbekistan to Russia through Kazakhstan.

As a result of the negotiations, a protocol was signed, which obliges timely and effective implementation of agreements between the parties. It was also the decision of the parties to resume quarterly bilateral meetings to take stock and discuss plans for the coming period.
