Uzbekistan invests US$160m to Navoi and Angren special zones
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan directed US$160 million to construction of infrastructure of Navoi free industrial-economic zone and Angren special industrial zone, the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov said at the opening of the international conference “On the role and importance of small business and private entrepreneurship in the implementation of socio-economic policy in Uzbekistan”.

Uzbek leader said that the government introduced about US$100 million to construction of engineering networks, logistics, and supply systems. This allowed to attract foreign investments to create joint ventures.

President added that a special programme on formation on production infrastructure and communication with total cost of US$60 million at Angren industrial zone, created this year, was developed. He said that the programme implementation was launched.

He said that the government does this as it understands that small businesses cannot take this burden. The small businesses cannot invest to construction of communication, which serves several enterprises. Overall, this production infrastructure stimulates, unites people, creates necessary conditions and opportunities for effective operation of small and private businesses, he said.

President of Uzbekistan said that Uzbekistan adopted decision to create these zones as preferential zones. He said that the government finances all infrastructures to those objects, in which foreign investments exceed US$30 million. He said that this should ensure fast growth of economy and entrepreneurship in Uzbekistan.
