President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree “On establishment of additional non-working days during the celebration of official dates and shifting of days off in 2018”.
The decree provides additional opportunities for citizens of our country for travel and acquaintance with the rich cultural and historical heritage and unique natural resources.
In order to fully support development of domestic tourism and family recreation in 2018, additional non-working days associated with the state holidays New Year, Navruz and Independence Day are legislatively established, as well as the transfer of individual days off to the working days closest to these holidays.
In addition, during the holy days of Kurban Hayit and Ramadan Hayit, starting in 2018, it is planned to establish three continuous rest days by transferring individual days off to the working days closest to the holidays.
The State Committee for Tourism of Uzbekistan and licensed tourist companies will introduce a system of discounts for transport and hotel services will be introduced.
According to the State Tourism Committee, such long weekends (Golden Week) are introduced in the calendars of many countries to stimulate the development of domestic tourism. Golden Week is especially popular in Japan and China, during which the vast majority of the inhabitants of these countries travel.
