Uzbekistan introduces electromagnetic compatibility check for imported vehicles

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  Uzbekistan has introduced a mandatory electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) check for vehicles imported by individuals or private entrepreneurs, Kun reports, citing UzTest.

The cost of EMC testing is 9.088 million soums for gasoline vehicles and approximately 6.3 million soums for electric vehicles. These rates apply to vehicles with up to seven seats and may vary by vehicle category. Testing is conducted at an automotive testing ground in Pskent.

Importers of electric vehicles, as well as private entrepreneurs who are not official dealers, must undergo EMC testing to obtain a conformity certificate.

This requirement, previously in place, aims to prevent vehicles from interfering with each other’s electronic systems. Official dealers in Uzbekistan also undergo EMC testing and obtain corresponding certificates, inspecting vehicles every three to six months and submitting necessary documentation.

The procedure for individual importers is the same as for official dealers, as outlined in the statement.
