Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan significantly increased its natural gas imports, which rose by 262% in January-September 2024. This is evidenced by data from the State Statistics Agency.
During the specified period, the value of imported gas amounted to US$1.278 billion, representing a 262% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
In September 2024, Uzbekistan purchased natural gas worth US$126.3 million.
The monthly breakdown of natural gas imports for the current year is as follows: in January — US$35.6 million, in February — US$131.1 million, in March — US$193.6 million, in April — US$102.6 million, in May — US$108.4 million, in June — US$166.3 million, in July — US$174.2 million, and in August — US$168.3 million.
The volume of oil and petroleum product imports during the same period also increased, exceeding US$1.53 billion, which is 29.3% higher than in the corresponding period of 2023.
Additionally, exports of oil and petroleum products grew 2.1 times, reaching US$464.1 million. Gas exports during the reported period increased by 15.5%, totaling US$479.5 million.
