Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has nearly quintupled its natural gas import volumes.
According to data from the Statistics Agency, the value of imported gas from January to July this year reached US$983.7 million, significantly surpassing last year’s figure of US$201 million for the same period. This represents a substantial increase in gas purchases in 2024 compared to 2023.
In July 2024 alone, Uzbekistan imported natural gas worth US$174.2 million, a 174-fold increase compared to July of the previous year, when imports amounted to only US$1 million.
The monthly breakdown of gas imports for the current year is as follows: US$35.6 million in January, US$131.1 million in February, US$193.6 million in March, US$102.6 million in April, US$108.4 million in May, and US$166.3 million in June.
