Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan significantly increased its natural gas imports by 5.7 times. This is reported in data from the  Statistics Agency.

From January to August of this year, the volume of imported gas reached US$1.15 billion, which is 5.7 times higher compared to the same period in 2023.

In August of this year, Uzbekistan purchased natural gas worth US$168.3 million.

Monthly breakdowns for natural gas imports in 2024 are as follows: US$35.6 million in January, US$131.1 million in February, US$193.6 million in March, US$102.6 million in April, US$108.4 million in May, US$166.3 million in June, and US$174.2 million in July.

The volume of oil and oil product imports from January to August 2024 exceeded US$1.42 billion, which is 29.5% higher compared to the same period in 2023.

At the same time, Uzbekistan increased its exports of oil and oil products by 2.3 times during the reporting period, reaching US$409.4 million.

Gas exports grew by 7.1% during this period, totaling US$404.8 million.
