Uzbekistan hosts duathlon tournament

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Yesterday, on 8 November, a major duathlon competition was held in the central streets of the capital.

We can say that the duathlon is the foundation of the triathlon. Given the current circumstances, the competition was organized around cycling and running. The opening ceremony of the Championship was held in a solemn spirit on the People’s Friendship Square.

The event was attended by the Secretary of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Chairman of the Triathlon Federation Viktor Makhmudov, Commander of the National Guard of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Major General Rustam Juraev, President of the NOC Rustam Shaabdurakhmanov and the leadership of the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports, noting the importance of competition in the process of promoting a healthy lifestyle life among the population of the country.

“The government of Uzbekistan today pays special attention to attracting our people to a healthy lifestyle. Proof of this is one of five initiatives put forward by the President of Uzbekistan and the recently announced Decree on the popularization of mass sports. This competition is also important for the promotion of a healthy lifestyle in our country,” Rustam Shaabdurakhmanov noted.

According to the regulations, athletes competed in three stages: first stage: running - 5 km, second stage, bicycle - 20 km, third stage, running - 2.5 km. Below are the names of the winners and prize-winners of the Uzbekistan Duathlon Championship:
