Uzbekistan Havo Yollari to enter SkyTeam by 2010
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan Havo Yollari (Uzbekistan Airways), national airline of Uzbekistan, will join to SkyTeam alliance by the end of 2010. SkyTeam is the second largest airline in the world.

This was announced at the presentation of tourism potential of Uzbekistan in Madrid, Spain. The presentation was dedicated to opening of regular flight of Uzbekistan Havo Yollari between Tashkent and Madrid.

Accession of Uzbekistan Havo Yollari to SkyTeam alliance will allow passengers to access branched network of routes and convenient connections to flights of partner airlines.

Korean Air management proposed to accept Uzbekistan Havo Yollari as associated member of SkyTeam in late 2007. The Board of Alliance approved initiative in May 2008.

SkyTeam is the second largest alliance in the world with 13 members. The alliance was founded in June 2000 by Korean Air, Air France, Delta Airlines and Aeromexico. Czech Airlines, Alitalia, China Southern Airlines, TAROM, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Vietnam Airlines, Air Europa, Kenya Airways and Aeroflot are other members.

Uzbekistan Havo Yollari carried out large preparation work to access the alliance. In 2009, the company created Devision of External Relations and Alliance under Commerce Department to develop relation with aviation authorities of foreign states, IATA, SkyTeam alliance and its members, foreign airlines and their offices in Uzbekistan.

In mid 2009, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) officially confirmed that Uzbekistan Havo Yollari was included to IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) operators. The IOSA certificate is mandatory requirement for accession to alliance. The airline made another step for accession to Sky Team by receiving the certificate.

Uzbekistan Havo Yollari was founded on 28 January 1992. The airline is currently operating scheduled flights to more than 40 cities of the world, including America, Europe, Middle East, South East, Central Asia and CIS.
