Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan published information on the level of poverty by regions of Uzbekistan for January-June 2023.
According to the agency, the highest poverty rate (19.7%) is observed in Karakalpakstan, Syrdarya (19.5%) and Khorezm (19.1%) regions.
The lowest rate was registered in Tashkent (8.5%) and Navoi region (9.2%).
The ministry notes that there are 1.307 million low-income families in Uzbekistan. The poverty rate in Uzbekistan is 14.1% (in 2022 it was 17%).
The Ministry emphasized that by 2023 it is planned to reduce this figure to 12% and bring about 130 thousand families or 1 million people out of poverty.
