Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is likely to attend the Moscow summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) on 14 June, a source with the Russian Foreign Ministry told Interfax.

"We did not receive refusals to take part in the CSTO events, in particular the organization’s summit, from the Uzbek side," the source said.

According to earlier reports, Yerevan hosted a meeting of the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers in April. The Uzbek Foreign Ministry said that it does not think that it is expedient to attend this event. Many experts and journalists then said that Uzbekistan may quit the CSTO.

A Russian diplomatic source told Interfax in April that Uzbekistan’s refusal to attend the meeting of CSTO foreign ministers does not mean that the country will leave the organization. The source noted that Uzbekistan did not take part in the meeting due to differences on a number of procedural issues.
