Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva met with British Deputy Foreign Secretary Lord Tariq Ahmad.

At the meeting, the current state and prospects of relations between our countries were discussed, issues of developing ties in trade, economic, investment, banking, financial, cultural and humanitarian areas were considered.

It was noted that both countries have sufficient potential to expand cooperation in the financial and technological fields. In this regard, it was emphasized that practical mechanisms and initiatives should be used and new projects should be implemented through the appointment of sales representatives.

Tariq Ahmad noted that Uzbekistan has been given the status of a beneficiary of the expanded scheme of the generalized system of preferences “GSP Enhanced”, and focused on the prospects of increasing exports of products in demand on the British market.

In turn, Tanzila Narbaeva invited representatives of British business circles to the Tashkent International Investment Forum, which will be held in May 2024.

During the conversation, attention was focused on further deepening cooperation in the field of education, practical aspects of opening branches of leading British universities in Uzbekistan and attracting qualified teachers were considered.

Considering that the issue of climate change is on the agenda of all countries today, an exchange of views took place on establishing close cooperation in this direction, especially in combating drought and water scarcity, as well as implementing joint projects to improve the efficiency of water resource management.
